FROM THE EAST Brethren and all,       First of all, let me say HELLO to everybody especially to the brethren whom I have not seen for quite a while now. May they come to visit the lodge sometime and may the blessings of heaven rest upon us now and ever.       It is indeed nice to say that we are now on the third month of the year. Needless to say the days are just passing us by so fast, so let us take the best of everything while we still can and leave what is not needed behind.        Those days that passed and those supports you have given me, I thank you very much. You really made me pumped up. Inspired, motivated, determined to go on and do my obligations and duties to the best I can as the WM of the lodge. Extend your cable tows, stretch forth your hands and assist me in bringing our lodge the best it can be.        Candidates wise, we are just doing fine. Congratulations to Bro Philip Cortez for being raised to MM, to Bro. Carlito Gambito and Bro Mark Ancheta for being initiated to EA and Bro. Berlin Copon for being passed to FC. I also want to thank some of our brethren who did great jobs in helping some other lodges in their degree works. You know who you are, brethren. Congrats to the SW, Bro Tony Bonoan for having been presented the Masters Certificate. A job well done my brother.        I also thank those brethren who came out and supported the official visit of the DDGM to our lodge. It was indeed a nice turnout. Hope that you will continue coming to the lodge. Not to mention, the DLC was also a huge attendance of about 400 plus and thanks to all the line officers and members alike in coming out.        I would like to invite everyone to our Spring Dinner and Dance on Apr 17, 2010 in VFW @ 6:00 PM. Invite some friends and have some fun.        Finally, it is my very sad duty as WM to report the passing of our Bro Diosdado Paras. He was buried in due form. May his soul rest in peace and eternal in the heaven. Pls include the Paras Family in your prayers during their time of sorrow. S/F, Bro Pablo, WM FROM THE WEST Brethren,         As your Senior Warden, one of my responsibilities is to coordinate a DEGREE TEAM, which will convey the fraternity’s rituals, to our candidates in receiving the Degrees in Freemasonry. Considering the fact that we are all busy (going places and visiting friend) the Lodge is very fortunate to have a bunch of dedicated brethren, especially the officers who are willing to Labor and undertake their necessities.         Learning the rituals come easy to some but difficult for others. Time, patience and perseverance play a bug part to it. Inevitably mistakes will happen justifying the old saying “Nobody is perfect”.         Degree work gives everyone the opportunity to take part in the rituals that we love so much.         April 17th is our Spring Dance at the VFW on Bartee Rd in Norfolk. Everybody is invited and enjoy the fun. FROM THE SECRETARY THE TEMPLE HAS RAISED THE ASSESSMENT TO $55.00; YOUR DUES WILL INCREASE BY $5.00, TO $171.00. The raise in the Temple assessment was necessary to balance the budget and is in accordance with the Temple By-laws. As you all know the cost of Gas & Electricity has been increasing and our membership is decreasing, the building is getting older and needs repairs. The board is working diligently to keep the cost down as much as we can. There is a need to increase the Endowment fund so that the interest from it will help keep the cost down. There are several ways that a person can contribute to the Endowment fund that will give a tax break, remember that it is a tax free contribution, those interested please contact me. Starting in 2010 the Temple will no longer assess the lodges for their 50 year members. Brethren as usual I encourage everyone to purchase a LIFE MEMBERSHIP in Perpetuity. This may be done in installments, which can be tailored to your financial condition. Grand Lodge will now take payment by credit card, contact me if you are interested. A REMINDER, as you know the Lodge voted to buy into the Granby Street Temple. Every member except the LMIPs (who got their LIMP before Dec 2002), Fifty Year members, and honorary members, will be assessed $40.00 a year for fifteen (15) years.  After 1 January 2003 the assessment was not a new charge. The Methodical Digest states that anyone with a LMIP can’t be assessed for new charges. If anyone has a question about this please contact one of the officers or me. New members only pay until 2018. Brethren please do not confuse this with assessment to operate the Temple LMIPS WILL BE $2096.00 PLUS THE CURRENT YEARS DUES FOR A TOTAL OF $2227.00.
